Seascape Madness.

How do you connect with your Photography?

For me, l need to be near the water. Lakes, oceans, rivers, wherever or whenever there is a body of water, l throw on my waders and immerse myself into the heart of it. The roar of the ocean, the trickle of a stream or the beautiful reflections on a serene misty morning at one of my favourite lakes, it is than l ‘feel’ at one with my photography, a sense of place, the water flowing gently around my feet creating patterns and shapes or an incoming tide that just about sweeps me of my feet, the exhilaration is much like a drug, keeps me coming back for more. l am not a big fan of the tourist platforms, there is no connection for me in photographing my subject matter from a distance, l need to get in close and personal, l have to feel my subject breathing down my back. How can you connect with your subject matter when you are 100 miles up in the air and shooting down at it or standing miles away on a tourist platform? sure, you may have beautiful colours or nice subject matter but where is the ‘connection’, Seascape photography is where you get to feel it, the salt water in your veins.

On my Photography Workshops you will certainly get a feel for Seascape Photography, getting in close, feeling the water around you.

Seascape Photography Mishaps.

This is what happens when you are teaching a photography workshop and leave your camera and tripod unattended. Bigger than expected swells can do a lot of damage. Smiling on the outside but crying on the inside, not the first time and certainly wont be the last time, Seascape Photography can be a cruel but rewarding profession.

Thanks Rob Featonby for the photo.

Port Campbell Seascapes Workshop.

A BIG thanks to all the participants who joined our Port Campbell Photography Workshop last weekend. A great weekend of photography had by all. Lots of learning, lots of water and not much sleep. We photographed the 12 Apostles in the evening, Gibson Beach during the morning and the Razorback throughout the day, whilst the weather was ok, the photography was great.

Another Workshop will be scheduled shortly. The workshops are hands-on and intensive. If you would like to join one of our workshops please message me.

Thanks Rob Featonby for the group shot.

In The Moment At Moeraki.

Magic happens when l press the shutter, colours explode before me, my golden fingers tremble, tears fall from my eyes. l remind myself that l am in the moment, anything else is not relevant, past nor future, only when l press the shutter, time stops, so does my breathing, for that moment l no longer exist as who l am but rather what l have captured. nothing else matters. Let your instincts guide you, Become a Camera.
